In April of 1994, Vince Gill released a stunning song that would forever melt our hearts, "Whenever You Come Around".
The song was co-written by Gill himself, and released as the first single from his album, When Love Finds You. The song was a huge hit, peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
More than fifteen years after the song's release, Gill teamed up with Rascal Flatts on the Grand Ole Opry stage to sing a jaw-dropping rendition of the emotional song. The collaboration began when Gill invited the group to become the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry. A stunned and thankful Rascal Flatts let the happiness set in for a moment before realizing that their actual dream was to play on stage with the legendary Vince Gill.
Joe Don Rooney, Rascal Flatts' lead guitarist, grabbed the microphone and told the crowd, "My hero is Vince Gill. And for him to come out here, and all of our hero is Vince Gill. Man, what a surprise, Vince. I wish he'd come out here and play this guitar instead of me!"
And Vince was up for the challenge! He walked on stage and the two musical acts came together as one to deliver, what we'd say, was one of the most inspirational duets of "Whenever You Come Around" ... ever! And we're pretty sure the crowd agreed as they cheered throughout the whole performance!
