Everyone knows how blunt Blake Shelton can be. He rarely doesn't say exactly what he thinks or feels. Just read a few of his Twitter posts and you'll see what we mean.
In a recent interview with Fox411 Country, The Voice coach opened up life on the show, on the road, and spending time with his fans. Fox's Ashley Dvorkin was lucky enough to catch Blake in his tourbus and she thanked him for that. "We always have pretty girls on this bus. We just saw you walking by, thought we'd invite you in," Blake said with a laugh.
Shelton admits his success still gives him a shock time to time. He doesn't seem to be slowing down either. "There's usually a small party that happens up here," he says about his bus after the shows. "But that's okay. I think you have to live it up while you can."
Shelton is very appreciative of his fans and always makes sure to give them some much sought after attention. He often stops to high-five a fan or even just enjoy a beer with them.
Shelton, who is a mentor himself on The Voice, owes a lot to his own mentor, the living legend that is Trace Adkins. Shelton and Adkins didn't just record a country hit together ("Hillbilly Bone"), but Adkins also invited Shelton to join The Grand Ole Opry, which is a humungous honor in itself.
"Trace Adkins was that guy for me …. unfortunately, because he's a grumpy, old bastard, but he was always that guy for me who would set me down and say, "Listen," and he would get on to me about stuff. Especially because back in the day, I was way worse than I am now. He was about the only guy I would listen to because I was intimidated by him. Looking back, I am so glad that he was around for me."
Shelton lives by the pay-it-forward method. Thanks to Adkins coaching, he now does the same for many of the talented individuals on Team Blake on The Voice. Though he doesn't stay close to each team member, he does try to help those he can, especially the ones he formed a friendship with.
Shelton is set to release his first greatest hits album, Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits, on October 23 and it will include the song that took country music by storm, "Hillbilly Bone".
