When Mrs. Lopez was diagnosed with cancer, she never expected to receive this kind of overwhelming support. Earlier this summer, the PS 22 Chorus from Staten Island dedicated a performance of Martina McBride's "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" to their beloved teacher who is battling cancer.

Since their choir director posted the video on their YouTube page, it has been viewed over 3 million times! The chorus, along with their cancer-stricken teacher, Mrs. Lopez, appeared on The View this morning (Thursday, September 17).

While singing their beautiful harmonies, Mrs. Lopez sat next to the piano with tissues in her hands and tears in her eyes. The choir of fifth graders mesmerized the entire audience from the moment they sang the first note.

The beginning of the second verse was sung by a familiar voice from off stage. Confused, Mrs. Lopez starts looking around for someone. Out walks Martina McBride holding a pink carnation and everyone looks completely stunned! McBride and the chorus finish the song, but not before giving us goosebumps all over!

The song, which is about cancer patients, survivors, and their family support, is a powerful one that always hits us right in the feels.

The children didn't know McBride would be joining them until rehearsal earlier before the show. To say they were surprised would be an understatement.

Martina posted on Facebook after the performance, saying how much she loved being included:

So happy to be a part of the special moment this morning! I got to sing I'm Gonna Love You Through It with the awesome...

Lyrics Below

She dropped the phone and burst into tears
The doctor just confirmed her fears
Her husband held it in and held her tight
Cancer don’t discriminate or care if you’re just 38
With three kids who need you in their lives
He said, "I know that you’re afraid and I am, too
But you’ll never be alone, I promise you"

When you’re weak, I’ll be strong
When you let go, I’ll hold on
When you need to cry, I swear that I’ll be there to dry your eyes
When you feel lost and scared to death,
Like you can’t take one more step
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.

She made it through the surgery fine
They said they caught it just in time
But they had to take more than they planned
Now it's forced smiles and baggy shirts
To hide what the cancer took from her
But she just wants to feel like a woman again
She said, "I don't think I can do this anymore"
He took her in his arms and said "That's what my love is for"

When you’re weak, I’ll be strong
When you let go, I’ll hold on
When you need to cry, I swear that I’ll be there to dry your eyes
When you feel lost and scared to death,
Like you can’t take one more step
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.

And when this road gets too long
I'll be the rock you lean on
Just take my hand, together we can do it
I’m gonna love you through it.
I’m gonna love you through it.
