Jamie Pugh tiptoed on stage shaking and looking extremely nervous.
After a long day of auditions, the judges of Britain's Got Talent had one more performance to watch, Pugh's. He explained he hadn't slept in three days because of his crippling stage fright. The judges could tell and looked concerned.
Judge Simon Cowell asked him if he had ever performed in front of an audience before, which he revealed he had not.
After taking a deep breath, Pugh started singing "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables, and completely shocked the entire audience and the judges! Piers Morgan even gave him a standing ovation, and so did the entire auditorium.
When giving feedback, Piers said, "I was not expecting that kind of performance from you. You haven't performed in this kind of arena, EVER. You deliver pizzas at night, for goodness sake. And you come on this stage, one of the biggest talent shows in the world and you do a performance like that, I thought that was incredible."
Simon Cowell, probably the meanest judge in any talent competition, ever, was won over by Pugh's full sound and amazing tone.
"I think I get, or I know, how important the last three minutes were to your life, and to get the reaction you just got from this audience must be unbelievable. It's people like you, is the reason we come to Wales every year. Because we like to find special, special talents. You know what, we may have just found one."
Giving him a word of advice, Cowell said, "You need to start believing in yourself Jamie. When you're good, you're good. It's all about self belief now."
Pugh made it all the way to the semi-finals and has recently released an album, appropriately titled Bring Him Home. We think he has gained some confidence, don't you?
