George Strait's surprise announcement was just revealed, and it's better than we could have expected!
After a week of suspense, Strait announced today (Sept 22.) the release of his newest album, and here's the twist- it's coming out this week!
During a press conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the King of Country revealed the details of the new album, Cold Beer Conversation. The album's lead singe is scheduled to come out on Wednesday, September 23rd, while the the album is set to be released on Friday, September 25th. That was fast!
I’m really, really proud of this new album. I think it’s a great record. I always say this; I think it’s one of the best records I’ve done. I always shoot for that … you’ve gotta go in the studio thinking that way. So I’m very excited about that.
Some of the album's songs were co-written by Strait and his son, Bubba, including "Let It Go", "It Takes All Kinds" and "Everything I See".
Strait and his son have previously collaborated, and one of our personal favorites is "Arkansas Dave". Check out the two performing the song below.
But wait, there's more!
Strait also announced he will be one of the first artists to perform at the new Las Vegas Arena, which is scheduled to open in the spring. He announced a series of shows beginning spring 2016 through fall 2016.
In the press conference, Strait said,
I’m very excited to be coming back out and playing for the fans out there. I’m really looking forward to it so much. Come April, it’ll be about a year and 10 months since I performed with my band … It’s gonna be exciting to get back out there again. I’m looking forward to singing those songs that I love so much.
