With more number one hits than any other artist in any genre, it's no wonder that George Strait is referred to as the "King of Country."

It's also no surprise that Strait was selected as the ACM Artist of the Decade in 2009.

There were many performances throughout the course of the concert that honored Strait for his Artist of the Decade award, but none more unique than Lee Ann Womack's.

Womack took to the stage to perform a brand-new, original song written specifically about Strait. The song, written by Amy Romeo, Brad Warren, Brett Warren, and Kenneth Wright is called "Stand There and Sing."

The lyrics of the song ask Strait if he has any idea how much of an impact he has made on the country music industry:

"Did you ever think you'd ever be called the King of anything? Or do you even know that's what we say?"

The lyrics also encourage Strait to keep being himself and keep producing good music. Other than that, he owes us nothing else.

Womack's performance of the song is heartfelt and sincere. She often looks over at Strait, who is sitting in a special seat right next to the stage. Strait can't seem to believe what he's hearing, often shaking his head and cracking a smile as he listens to Womack sing.

Strait may find it hard to believe that he is worthy of such treatment, but we feel that Womack's performance of "Stand There and Sing" is a perfect way to honor the King.

LYRICS BELOW

I wonder do you wonder

'Bout all the friends and trends

That you've seen come and go

Did you ever think you'd ever

Be called the King of anything

Or do you even know

That's what we say

You've never changed

No you'll never change

Just stand there and sing

That's all we need

The way you tell a story

Makes it easy to believe

Just carry on

And we'll all sing along

We'll  laugh and cry

Live our lives to a cowboy melody

So just stand there and sing

Stand there and sing

Did you always

know that your way

Was the best way

Or were you just doing what you do

Looking back now,

Hope that somehow

You've enjoyed yourself

as much as we still do

Because that's what we say

You've never changed,

Oh you'll never change

So just stand there and sing

That's all we need

The way you tell a story

Makes it easy to believe

Just carry on

And we'll all sing along

We'll laugh and cry

Live our lives to a cowboy melody

So just stand there and sing

Knowing the lights and smoke and mirrors

Were just that, you smiled and tipped your hat

Stand there and sing

That's all we need

The way you tell a story

Makes it easy to believe

Just carry on

And we'll all sing along

We'll laugh and cry

Live our lives to a cowboy melody

So just stand there and sing

Oh stand there and sing
