By the time Toby released his 1999 single "How Do You Like Me Now?!" he already had a few number ones under his belt. Although the song went on to become yet another one of those hits, Toby had to fight to make it so.
After making the move to a new record label, Toby was displeased when his single "When Love Fades," failed to chart in the Top 40. He asked for it to be removed and replaced with "How Do You Like Me Now?!" which ended up being a smart decision on Toby's part.
Of course, anyone who knows the song understands why it showcases Toby's hardcore persona. In his biography on Way Back Machine, Toby stated that the idea for the song came from his personal catch phrase "Initially, I said, 'Here's my title: "You Never Loved Me Before, So How Do You Like Me Now?'" Toby said. "A lot of people become successful after they've been told they won't ever be, so people can relate to this."
