Fans have been curious about the meaning behind Tim McGraw's upcoming album, Damn Country Music, since he first announced its release. Now they finally have the answer, because McGraw just released the music video for the album's title track.
McGraw first started releasing teasers about his new album on September 15, 2015, and officially announced its release on September 17.
The album won't be released until November 6, but in the meantime, fans can enjoy McGraw's new singles "Top of the World" and now "Damn Country Music."
When McGraw revealed the title of his new album, there was some speculation that the phrase "damn country music" may be ironic, or even angry. But the music video for "Damn Country Music" makes it clear that neither is the case.
Rather than being an angry declaration or ironic statement, the phrase "damn country music" in the context of McGraw's song seems to mean that country music makes people give up a lot of things, but all for the love of the music itself.
In the music video, various members of a concert crew are seen wearing white t-shirts with the lyrics of the song printed on them. The video is also shot in black and white, so the simplicity of it makes the lyrics really stand out.
The song itself is a lot more low-key than you would expect from the title, having a soft, almost waltz-like sound to it.
