There are few people who can do justice to a Billy Joel song, but Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines sure can.

In November 2015, Joel was awarded with the sixth Gershwin Prize for Best Song by the Library of Congress. The award ceremony included a luncheon as well as a series of musical performances. Maines was one of the scheduled performers, taking the stage to sing her rendition of Joel's "She's Got A Way."

"She's Got A Way" was released on Joel's first solo album, Cold Spring Harbor in 1971, but wasn't released as a single until 1981, when Joel placed the song on another album, Songs In The Attic. The song ended up peaking at the 23rd spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the beginning of 1982.

The only thing Maines says to the audience before her performance is "thank you," before she leads right into the song. Maines stays true to the song's original pace and soft sound, but adds in an acoustic guitar to give it a little bit of country style.

Besides the addition of the guitar, the only other thing Maines changes is adding in the word "he" to replace the word "I" in the song to make it be in third-person

The crowd seems to be pleased with Maine's rendition of the song, with the camera panning to show a few audience members bobbing their heads to the beat. Joel himself seems pleased with Maine's performance, smiling wide as he claps at the conclusion of the song.

What an honor for Maines to be able to perform "She's Got A Way" in front of the legendary Joel, and what an even higher honor for him to have enjoyed her performance so much.

Watch Maine's impressive rendition of Joel's "She's Got A Way" in the video below.

LYRICS BELOW

She's got a way about her
I don't know what it is
But I know that I can't live without her
She's got a way of pleasin'
I don't know what it is
But there doesn't have to be a reason anyway

She's got a smile that heals me
I don't know why it is
But I have to laugh when she reveals me
She's got a way of talkin'
I don't know why it is
But it lifts me up when we are walkin' anywhere

She comes to me when I'm feelin' down
Inspires me without a sound
She touches me and I get turned around

She's got a way of showin'
How I make her feel
And I find the strength to keep on goin'
She's got a light around her
And ev'rywhere she goes
A million dreams of love surround her ev'rywhere

She comes to me when I'm feelin' down
Inspires me without a sound
She touches me and I get turned around

She's got a smile that heals me
I don't know why it is
But I have to laugh when she reveals me
She's got a way about her
I don't know what it is
But I know that I can't live without her anyway
