With a name like Pokey LaFarge, you are definitely destined to become a country singer! And he is on his way to becoming just that!

Pokey made his Grand Ole Opry debut on August 25th and ever since, we've been waiting for The Opry to release the video of his performance and they finally have!

Pokey and his band played his song "Actin' a Fool" that will bring you back to the traditional country days of Hank Williams, Jimmie Rogers, and Pokey's idol, Bill Monroe.

Pokey's grandfather was a member of the St. Louis Banjo Club and gave him his first guitar and banjo during his early childhood. He discovered Bill Monroe at age sixteen and traded his guitar for a mandolin. A year later, Pokey hitchhiked to the West Coast from Illinois and played music on the sidewalks, streets and at malls. On his way, he met Ryan Koenig, his harmonica player, and Joey Glynn, his bass player, and they have been playing together ever since.

With a band of instruments like a harmonica, upright bass, washboard, clarinet, and banjo, Pokey LaFarge is bringing back the Americana/folk music genre, and we are loving every second of it!

Take a look at Pokey's Opry debut and prepare to be blown away!

Lyrics Below

Some days up, some days down
Think I’ll jump into the river and drown
With no means for healing, no cure can be found
If I end up drinking everything in the room
I’m just, actin’ a fool, forgetting you
Actin' a fool, forgetting you

Look over the horizon, what do you see?
Another sun is setting on me
Last rays of sunlight, taking my sanity
If you see me howling, howling at the moon
I’m just, actin’ a fool, forgetting you
Actin’ a fool, forgetting you

Everyone has a story, every song has an end
Now I am finished and I won’t sing again
I’ll drink myself green, don’t mind that money I spend
You were the last thing I had left to lose
I’ll be, actin’ a fool, forgetting you
Actin’ a fool, forgetting you

Some days up, some days down
Think I’ll jump into the river and drown
With no means for healing, no cure can be found
If I end up drinking everything in the room
I’m just, actin’ a fool, forgetting you
Actin’ a fool, forgetting you
Actin’ a fool, forgetting you
I’m just actin’ a fool, forgetting you
