Country legend Merle Haggard made a surprise appearance on the famed Ryman stage at the Grand Ole Opry last night.
Those lucky enough to be sitting in the audience were able to see Haggard perform his greatest hits, including "Silver Wings", "Big City" and "The Fightin' Side Of Me".
According to the press release, "Haggard, a Grammy®-winner and Kennedy Center honoree, had a night off as he rolled through Nashville and wanted to honor the Opry’s 90th Anniversary celebration with a performance on the storied stage."
Haggard is currently on tour with Willie Nelson to promote their new album Django And Jimmie, though it was recently announced that some tour dates have been postponed due to a medical issue that Nelson is currently undergoing.
The country icon definitely has a stage presence that can't be denied and those who were able to experience his performance last night should count themselves honored.
Haggard is no stranger to the Opry stage. He's stood upon it many times before. Back in 2000, he performed his timeless tune, "Workin' Man Blues".
What a way to celebrate the 90th Opry Anniversary!
