Carrie Underwood has revealed her most personal song yet. So personal in fact, she isn't sure she'll be able to perform the song live.

In an interview with Taste of Country, Underwood admitted,

“It’s a love song for my boys”

“What I Never Knew I Always Wanted” was co-written by Brett James and Hillary Lindsay and it’s one of the only songs penned after Underwood became a new mom. Many of the songs were discovered or written prior to her becoming pregnant.

She was hesitant to include the emotional song on her album Storyteller because it is so personal. The lyrics talk of an independent woman who didn't know that something was missing from her life until marriage and starting a family.

No doubt the song will resinate with fans, and you can't help but get emotional listening to it!

Underwood has admitted before that "Mommy guilt is so real". After having Isaiah she began to slowly return to work, writing a couple days a week in a cabin near her vacation property. Baby Isaiah would be in a nearby cabin and returned to the road with his superstar momma.

“Sometimes I just sit there and I’m like, ‘I’m kind of sorry that this is your life, traveling around,” she explained (talking about Isaiah). “I’m sure you’d just rather be home in your space. And you’re in this hotel room in Lord knows where. Or you’re on a bus.’”

Storyteller will be released October 23, 2015. Listen to Underwood's sweet song inspired by her son and husband.

LYRICS BELOW

(Yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah)

Never was the kind to think about dressing in white
Wasn't waiting on a prince to come riding into my life
Thought I was happy on my own
'Til you came and proved me wrong

I finally found what I never knew I always wanted
I couldn't see; I was blind 'til my eyes were opened
I didn't know there was a hole
Something missing in my soul
'Til you filled it up with your love, yeah
(Yeah, yeah)

Never pictured myself singing lullabies
Sitting in a rocking chair in the middle of the night
In the quiet, in the dark
You're stealing every bit of my heart with your daddy's eyes
What a sweet surprise

And now I'm holdin' what I never knew I always wanted
I couldn't see; I was blind 'til my eyes were opened
I didn't know there was a hole
Something missing in my soul
'Til you filled it up, oh, with your love

Life has a way of showing you just what you need
And who you were made to be, yeah

I finally found what I never knew I always wanted
I couldn't see; I was blind 'til my eyes were opened
I didn't know there was a hole
Something missing in my soul
'Til you filled it up with your love
Yeah, you filled it up with your love, yeah
(Yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah)

I never was the kind to think about dressing in white
I never pictured myself singing lullabies
