Dwight gave The King a run for his money.

Dwight Yoakam recorded "Suspicious Minds" for the soundtrack of the movie, Honeymoon in Vegas, starring Nicholas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker. He also included it on his The Very Best of Dwight Yoakam compilation album.

"Suspicious Minds" was originally recorded by Elvis Presley in 1968 and went straight to Number 1! It was his eighteenth and last Number 1 single in the US. Rolling Stone ranked it #91 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

The song is about a dysfunctional relationship full of trust issues. The chorus's lyrics, "We can't go on together/With suspicious minds/And we can't build our dreams/On suspicious minds," explains that the main characters can't move on if they always are doubting each other.

Although Yoakam's version didn't hit #1, his version was well received by fans.  One fan, Rob Hukins, said, "Best version of this song I've ever heard!"

Yoakam has recorded more than 21 albums and compilations and has had more than 30 songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. He's sold more than 25 million records.

Take a listen to Dwight Yoakam's rendition of "Suspicious Minds" below!

Lyrics Below

We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see these tears are real
I'm crying

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

Oh let our love survive
Or dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die

When honey, you know
I've never lied to you
Mmm yeah, yeah
