There is one song that really gets to Blake Shelton.
We are used to seeing the funny man of country laughing, making jokes, and just having a good time. Rarely do we see his serious side, but when it comes to the heart-wrenching song, "Over You" he can't hold back his true emotions.
At a 2014 concert in Phoenix, Arizona Shelton performed "Over You" for his fans, even though he decided not to record the song after writing it. The song was originally written by Shelton and former wife, Miranda Lambert. The two wrote the emotional ballad about Shelton's brother Richie who passed away in a fatal car accident at just 24 years old.
The song was recorded by Lambert and released as the second single from her Four The Record album in 2012. It was instantly a hit, and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Shelton and Lambert also received Song of the Year awards from both the CMA and ACM awards. Proving their ability as songwriters and performers even further in the country community.
We have seen our share of emotional performances, but this one has a little extra something to it. Knowing how difficult it must have been for Shelton to perform the song for fans, and hearing him talk about it is truly touching.
