Hailing from Perryville, Missouri, rising star Chris Janson has been making his mark on the country scene since 2009.
Nashville Gab compares Janson's live shows to a wild horse that isn't meant to be tamed. "He brings a blue-collar, redneck edge to every show that seems to be lacking in country music these days," writer Brittany Vance said. "Chris Janson is the future of country music."
His debut album, Buy Me A Boat, is in stores TODAY, and on iTunes. "Everything I'm about is in this record," says Janson. "It's very much a biopic album." The 11 track album is his story of perseverance and his life. Two songs, "Where You Comin In", and "Holdin' Her" are both about his wife, Kelly, and are his favorite songs on the record.
In fact, Kelly co-wrote the album's song, "Messin' With Jesus", a duet with Tim McGraw.
The title track was released as a single in March and has been tearing up the charts, hitting #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. The song was certified Gold on August 14, 2015, and focuses on a male narrator expressing the fact that "money can't buy happiness, but it can buy [him] a boat."
Speaking about how he came up with the idea of writing the song, Janson says the song is,
"A real story about my truck and my yeti-cooler I had in the back of it. I don't have a boat, but I'd like to have one. It's the time-old story about everybody wants to be a millionaire or everybody thinks if they had a million dollars, it would change their lives. We just wrote a song about how we really felt."
Buy Me A Boat is already #3 on iTunes' Top Country Albums list, and we're sure it'll hit #1 by the end of the day!
