Years after his death, George Jones' legacy continues to live on not just in country music, but through a unique alcoholic beverage named after one of The Possum's biggest hits.
Jones' wife, Nancy, was the one who pushed the idea of creating a line of drinks named in Jones' honor.
“George always wanted to own his own brand of whiskey,” Nancy says in a statement for the George Jones Museum. “This was one of the promises I made to him before he died, that I’d make that dream come true.”
"White Lightning" Moonshine and Vodka, named after Jones' 1959 number one hit single, has only been available at the George Jones Museum in downtown Nashville up to this point. But that may change soon.
The demand for the products to be sold at other locations as been so great, that the company says “plans are underway to choose the right partner to create an international footprint."
Although there is no set date for "White Lighting" to hit the shelves, the company is working on a plan that will allow the product to be distributed on an international scale.
While you wait for "White Lighting" to show up in your local store, enjoy watching Jones perform the song that inspired the drink, live in the video below.
Hopefully it won't be too long before "White Lighting" makes its way into stores!
