Carrie Underwood has proven time and time again that she is a force to be reckoned with in the country music world.

Underwood's most recent album, Storyteller, debuted at #1 after it's release, tying Underwood with other female country legends, Reba McEntire, and Loretta Lynn for the most albums to debut at  the #1 spot on the Billboard Country Album chart.

Another legendary artist who ties with Underwood, McEntire, and Lynn is Underwood's biggest role model, the one and only Dolly Parton.

Underwood recently sat down with Good Morning America to talk about her new album, as well as her admiration for Parton.

In October 2015, Underwood performed Parton's #1 hit "9 to 5" at the Grand Ole Opry. Since the performance happened not long before meeting with Good Morning America, Underwood was asked about it during her interview.

Underwood says that's she's been performing the song for years, and that at first she tried to do it the same way Parton had.

"I feel like I spent the beginning part of it trying to emulate Dolly, and then realizing that was just impossible," says Underwood.

We don't think that Underwood has any need to try and mimic Parton, since Underwood is talented in her own right.

Underwood's talent is made clear in her Opry performance of "9 to 5," as she keeps up with the fast tempo of the original song while still finding time to hit a few high notes in her own signature style.

Tune in below for Underwood's interview with Good Morning America about her admiration for Parton, and while you're at it, enjoy watching her live Opry performance of "9 to 5."

Underwood is right, no one can ever live up to Dolly Parton, but with such a successful career, it's going to be a challenge for future artists to live up to Underwood herself.

LYRICS BELOW

Tumble out of bed
And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
And yawn and stretch and try to come to life

Jump in the shower
And the blood starts pumpin'
Out on the streets, the traffic starts jumpin'
For folks like me on the job from 9 to 5

Workin' 9 to 5
What a way to make a livin'
Barely gettin' by
It's all takin' and no givin'

They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it

9 to 5
For service and devotion
You would think that I
Would deserve a fat promotion

Want to move ahead
But the boss won't seem to let me
I swear sometimes that man is
Out to get me, hmmm

They let you dream
Just a watch 'em shatter
You're just a step on the boss man's ladder
But you got dreams he'll never take away

In the same boat with a lot of your friends
Waitin' for the day your ship'll come in
And the tide's gonna turn
And it's all gonna roll you away

Workin' 9 to 5
What a way to make livin'
Barely gettin' by
It's all takin' and no givin'

They just use your mind
And you never get the credit
It's enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it

9 to 5
Yeah, they got you were they want you
There's a better life
And you think about it, don't you?

It's a rich man's game
No matter what they call it
And you spend your life
Putting money in his wallet

9 to 5
Oh, what a way to make a livin'
Barely gettin' by
It's all takin' and no givin'

They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it

9 to 5
Yeah, they got you where they want you
There's a better life
And you dream about it, don't you?

It's a rich man's game
No matter what they call it
And you spend your life
Putting money in his wallet
