A tremendous crowd gathered in support of Joey Feek during a candlelight prayer vigil that was held in her hometown, Alexandria, Indiana.
The vigil was suggested following an announcement Joey + Rory made just a few weeks ago about her battle with Stage IV cancer. Upon receiving devastating news about her repeated treatment's inability to control the cancer, Joey Feek and husband Rory made an unimaginably difficult decision: to stop treatment altogether.
Rory, speaking directly to fans with his blog This Life I Live, asked everyone to participate in a vigil to pray for Joey.
"But please, one thing I ask... don't just praythat Joey is healed. Yes, pray for a miracle. But also pray for peace in her heart, and ours, if God chooses not to let this cup pass from her sweet lips."
Before the vigil was even held, Rory's request for prayers drew an incredible response online with thousands of fans sharing the story via social media.
During the vigil in her hometown, many people who knew her growing up spoke fondly of her and her incredible personality. June Miller, knew Joey when she was a teenager and used to babysit her children.
“She’d sit around the campfire and she’d sing songs for us… and just a precious girl, just wonderful,” she said. “Joey, we love you, we think about you. We pray for you every night, and God does work miracles.”
Even some businesses used their marquee to send well-wishes Joey's way.
The community has always been fond of Joey and they showed how much they love her with this amazing evening of prayer.
