Internet sensation Kane Brown has always been open to requests from fans asking him to cover certain songs. In the past, Brown has covered country legends like George Strait, Toby Keith, and Garth Brooks.
For his most recent cover, Brown decided to try his hand at an Alan Jackson classic, and all for a very special person...his memaw.
In a video posted to his Facebook page, Brown says he decided to cover Jackson's "Remember When" in honor of his memaw's birthday. Brown had a show on his memaw's actual birthday, so since he couldn't be there with her he decided to record the song just for her.
Brown says he actually heard the song for the first time thanks to his memaw, who had it playing at her anniversary party when he was nine or ten years old.
"Remember When" was written by Jackson and released in 2003 as the second single from his Greatest Hits Volume II album. The song became a #1 hit for Jackson, holding the spot for a total of two weeks.
Brown doesn't disappoint with his cover of the song, crooning out the lyrics with his deep, classic country sound. He's smiling all throughout his performance, and it's clear the song brings back some fond memories he has of his memaw.
At the end of the song, Brown blows his memaw a kiss, and says that he hopes she enjoyed the song.
Watch Brown's sweet tribute to his memaw with "Remember When" in the video below.
Brown shouldn't have to worry, we're sure his memaw loved his version of the song!
Remember when I was young and so were you
and time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when we vowed the vows
and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookn' back it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are,
Where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when
