There wasn't a dry eye in the room after Jordan Smith's performance on The Voice Monday night.
Prior to the start of the show, the contestants, coaches, and host Carson Daly gathered in front of a lit-up display of the French colors, to express their "love and support" for the people of Paris in wake of the terrorist attacks there last week.
Later in the show, when Smith took to the stage to perform the traditional hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," you could tell that Paris was on everyone's mind.
Smith decided to get really vulnerable with his performance, and opted out of performing with the band. He starts off singing a cappella, before he starts to softly play the piano as he sings.
All of the coaches stood up in the middle of his performance, clearly in awe of the raw beauty of his voice.
Smith's coach Adam Levine rushed the stage after the performance to give him a hug, lavishing praise on him for doing a stunning job.
"You come along and make us feel like there’s a whole lot of hope…you feel this sense of rejuvenation and joy," Levine said.
The other coaches also had a lot of praise for Smith, including Blake Shelton, who thanked him for singing the song.
"Coming off the weekend and the horrible things that happened in Paris, having a heavy heart in the last few days…thank you for that, that was beautiful," Shelton said.
Even though Smith isn't on his team, coach Pharrell Williams encouraged everyone to buy Smith's song.
"I don't' care about the vote," Williams said. "Go to iTunes right now and buy this song. That's it."
It seems that viewers listened to Williams, because the morning following the show, Smith's song was at the #1 spot on the iTunes chart.
You'll understand why Smith's version of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" soared up the charts after you watch his emotional performance in the video below.
Keep a box of tissues close by, because you're sure to need them at the end of Smith's performance.
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever will be.
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
all I have needed thy hand hath provided;
great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. Refrain
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
