This is one of those songs you can't help but feel emotional about.

Before his breakout moment during the 49th annual CMA awards, Chris Stapleton was busy creating music for other country and bluegrass talents. In fact he wrote one song in particular that struck a nerve with country superstar Luke Bryan, and millions of fans around the world.

Stapleton wrote "Drink A Beer" in 2013. It was released as the third single from Luke's album Crash My Party, and became his seventh #1 song. Luke connected with the sad country ballad after the loss of his own two siblings, and dedicates the song to them in many of his live shows.

The song is about dealing with the pain of unexpected loss. The lyrics describe the raw emotions that someone might go through when dealing with such a tragedy. In this case, sitting on the edge of a pier, drinking a beer - something you might have done with that lost loved one.

In this special live performance, Stapleton is joined by his wife Morgane to sing the emotional ballad. He adds his very own soul and acoustic flair that makes for a different sound than Luke's version. It is awesome to watch Stapleton perform the song that he originally wrote, for such an enthusiastic crowd!

Watch the beautiful live performance below, along with a performance of Luke and Stapleton singing "Drink A Beer" together.

LYRICS BELOW

When I got the news today
I didn't know what to say.
So I just hung up the phone.

I took a walk to clear my head,
This is where the walking led
Can't believe you're really gone
Don't feel like going home

So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer

Funny how the good ones go
Too soon, but the good Lord knows
The reasons why, I guess

Sometimes the greater plan
Is kinda hard to understand
Right now it don't make sense
I can't make it all make sense

So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer

So long my friend
Until we meet again
I'll remember you
And all the times that we used to...

... sit right here on the edge of this pier
And watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer
Drink a beer,
Drink a beer.
Yeah
