At the apex of his career, and following tremendous success of his recent hit "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16", Keith Urban is presented with a celebration of his achievements in an exhibit at The Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.

Although this would normally be an uplifting and bright time for an artist, Urban is going through something much more difficult...

The multi-platinum artist attended the opening of his exhibit with a much more somber tone. Throughout his career, his father, Bob Urban had played an integral part in Keith's success and as such, he was also a huge part of the exhibit itself. But, that struck a painful spot for Keith this time, for just a short time ago his father was placed into hospice care.

“He’s probably only got a few weeks, if that,” Urban said. “I’ve just been dealing with that the last couple of days. This has all come at a very strange time where it’s typical of a career that has extreme highs and extreme lows all often at the exact same time. So (the exhibit) is bittersweet a little bit because (my dad) is the catalyst for all of this. My dad is the catalyst for me living in America.”

His father had been his biggest supporter since the very beginnings of Keith's career and sewed all of his early costumes. Contained within the exhibit are many, many key parts to his career that his dad helped him with, including some of his intricate costumes.

“My dad particularly always thought it was important that I dressed like a performer,” the singer said. “A lot of these country music talent quests I did in Australia, they often had categories for best dressed male or best dressed female and I often won. Sometimes it was the only thing I won.”

The exhibit, Keith Urban So Far.... is full of family photos, stage costumes, incredible instruments like custom guitars, and many other memorabilia spanning the 48-year-old's life.

The road to fame wasn't paved for Keith. Since a young age, he knew he was supposed to be at the heart of country music in Nashville and his father, Bob, helped make sure that dream came true.

You can listen to the pure adoration and love he has for his father and the sacrifices he made in the hit "Song For Dad" that Urban released in 2002 on his album Golden Road.

LYRICS BELOW

Lately I've been noticing
I say the same things he used to say
And I even find myself acting the very same way
I tap my fingers on the table
To the rhythm in my soul
And I jingle the car keys
When I'm ready to go
When I look in the mirror
He's right there in my eyes
Starin' back at me and I realize

The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me

There were times I thought he was bein'
Just a little bit hard on me
But now I understand he was makin' me
Become the man he knew that I could be
In everything he ever did
He always did with love
And I'm proud today to say I'm his son
When somebody says I hope I get to meet your dad
I just smile and say you already have

He's in my eyes
My heart, my soul
My hands, my pride
And when I feel alone

And I think I can't go on
I hear him sayin' "Son you'll be alright"
Everything's gonna be alright"
Yes it is

The older I get
The more I can see
That he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
Oh I hope I see
I hope everyday I see
A little more of my father in me

A little more of my father in me
I hope everyday I see in me
In me
In me
I hope everyday I see

A little more of my father in me
