After the nominations for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards were announced this morning, artists from every genre were celebrating, but we doubt that any other nominated artist was experiencing the emotions that Joey and Rory Feek were. The couple received their first ever Grammy nomination for a song that few people had ever heard until a slew of new fans found the couple following Joey’s terminal cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
The couple’s Facebook following has quadrupled in recent months and their YouTube video views have more than doubled. With their new-found popularity, it should come as no surprise that the duo is finally getting the attention they deserve.
Rory Feek took to Facebook this morning to share their reaction to the news.
“...woke my bride up this morning with a baby in my arms and the news that our version of "If I Needed You" was nominated for a Grammy. As her excitement and tears flowed into mine. She said, "how can that be? "
....the song received no radio airplay... no press... no critical acclaim... and the only music video we made for it was to celebrate the day our little Indiana was born. God is so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
