Blake Shelton has no problem making it known that he really wants Gwen Stefani to return as a coach on The Voice, but in a recent press conference he pressured executive producer, Carson Daly, for a response.
When a reporter asks the group if there would be a fifth chair added for another coach, Daly takes the reigns for a response.
"Well, just to address that, we love Gwen. We love all of our coaches. . . ."
Shelton chimed in citing Daly's authority as an executive producer for a more formal answer.
"Yeah, but as a producer, is she coming back to season 11? As an executive producer, Carson, I mean . . ."
Remaining vague, but still hinting at a future return, Daly gave an example of another show allowing special guests to return.
"Our chairs, we’re like Iron Chef over here. Once you’ve been in the kitchen, you’re always welcome back in the kitchen!"
Shelton took that as a resounding yes, "All right, see you next season, Gwen!".
Since the country crooner and No Doubt front-lady made their relationship official in November, fans have often wondered what would come of the coach position she would be leaving following the conclusion of season nine.
It's been confirmed that original coach Christina Aguilera will be making her return to the show, but there have been many rumors flying of adding a fifth chair for Stefani.
