Mid-performance, Wynonna Judd stopped, and time stood still.

Wynonna looked as if she had an epiphany, and began talking from her heart. The audience clung to her every word, and waited patiently to see her emotions spill out on stage.

She began,

I recently discovered that I’m more than a ‘chick singer’, took me a long time, but that I’m a child of God. I love what I do, but I’m not sure I loved who I was. Then, one day, I woke up and realized I didn’t have to worry if somebody loved me. To the world I’m one, but to one, I’m the world. Think about it.

The audience roared with applause, and fell silent once again so Wynonna could finish her thought.

Wynonna continued:

I’m not preaching, I’m just teaching, because the road has been long, the journey has been up and down and all around. I would take nothing for that journey now. My heart has been broken so many times. Mom recently said, ‘Honey, let him see the brokenness. Let him see the cracks in your armor, that’s how the light gets out.’ This next song saved me through a time. How you walk through that time, and there’s always a song there. In a flash, I realized that though I never got to meet my earthly father, I WILL meet my heavenly father. I believe that, and I am going to say it because it’s my show. This next song helped me through that time and blew my soul wide open.

After that vivid profession of faith, Wynonna Judd began singing ‘I Can Only Imagine‘.

The powerful single was first recorded in 2001 by a Christian rock band, MercyMe, and centers around the thought of what it would be like in Heaven, standing before God.

Wynonna issued her form of the song in 2005, and began leaving crowds speechless with her emotional rendition.

The audience was left breathless after Wynonna’s acknowledgement of God on stage, and the entire room erupted in applause as soon as she finished singing.
