Rory Feek loves Christmas. There’s a magic that’s in the air that isn’t there any other time of the year,” Rory wrote on his blog. “Christmas does what no amount of New Years resolutions or self-help books can do… it changes people. It brings out the very best in us, and in others.
This year, Christmas was different for the Feeks. After a trying year, the holiday meant more than it ever has before.
Joey was diagnosed with Stage IV cervical cancer in 2014, but decided to stop treatment in November after being told that the chemotherapy wasn’t helping. In November, Joey’s husband Rory shared in a blog post that Joey was hoping for a Christmas miracle, to live to see the holiday, or even their daughter Indiana's second birthday in February.
“Joey’s hope never fades. No amount of pain or medicine can touch it. It runs too deep," he wrote. "It’s connected to her faith in God. And as she will tell you, God can do anything.”
Joey got her Christmas miracle. The singer celebrated Christmas with family and friends in Indiana, a moment they shared on Facebook. In the photo, a smiling, radiant Joey is seen surrounded by gifts, family and friends.
“… celebrating Christmas with Joey, surrounded by family,” Rory captioned a sweet photo of the whole gang gathered in a living room filled with happy faces and wrapped boxes. “The best gift of all. Thank you Lord.”

On Christmas Eve, Rory shared a video of their baby girl with her older stepsisters at the park. The caption read, “...Indiana and her big sisters at the playground today. Thank you to our sweet friend Georgia Claire Varble for the song about the innocence of Christmas.”
