Although Lynyrd Skynyrd's former lead singer Ronnie Van Zant passed away in 1977, modern technology has given him the chance to perform with his band again.

Lynyrd Skynyrd's song, "Travelin' Man" was included on the band's 1976 live album, One More from the Road. Written by Ronnie and the band's bassist Leon Wilkeson, the song was actually not released as a single until 1997.

Ronnie's brother, Johnny, performed the lead vocals for the 1997 version of the song, which was released on the band's ninth studio album, Twenty. The album's title refers to the passage of 20 years since Ronnie, guitarist Steve Gaines, and backup singer Cassie Gaines were killed in a plane crash.

Since the original version of "Travelin' Man" was on a live album, the 1997 version of the song was the first one the band recorded in a studio. Through the use of technology, the band was able to take some of Ronnie's original vocals and use them in the song. This ended up creating a virtual duet between him and Johnny, making the song truly unique.

In 2015, the band was able to make use of technology yet again in order to have Ronnie appear for a duet of "Travelin' Man" during a live performance. Johnny starts off singing, but part way through he turns around to face a large video screen, which plays footage and audio of Ronnie singing the song.

If the moment that Ronnie first appears on screen doesn't send chills up your spine, you're sure to have goosebumps when you see Johnny turn around and open his arms toward his brother at the end of the song.

You can watch Lynyrd Skynyrd's live, virtual performance with Ronnie in the video below.

That must have been such a special performance for Johnny and the rest of the band!

LYRICS BELOW

I was born a travelin' man, that's all I'll ever be
Moving around from town to town is what makes me so free
My father was a trucker for the years of '23
On the day that I was born his blood was left to me
I'm a travelin' man
Travelin' Man -- that's what I am
Travelin' Man
Travelin' Man
That's what I am

Travelin' man -- that's what I am
No woman puts a hold on me
You'll see me once or maybe twice
That's all you'll see of me
All you pretty women Lord, I hope you understand
Don't be a fool Lord no, and put your heart in a travellin' man
I'm a travelin' man
Travelin' Man
Travelin' Man -- that's what I am
Travelin' Man

Travelin' Man -- that's what I am
Guess I'll always be
Travelin' Man -- that's what I am
But at least I'm free

Travelin' man
Oh - that's what I am

Travelin' man -- that's what I am, Lord I move so fast
I have had so many women, none of them have last
I am just a mover, moving fast as sound
Always free, sometimes lonely. Always movin' around
Travelin' Man
Travelin' Man -- that's what I am
Travelin' Man
Oh - that's what I am
