As the final season of American Idol begins, singers from around the country are coming forward to show the judges that they have what it takes to be America's next superstar.
One superstar hopeful came further than most, and her name is Jeneve Mitchell. The real life cowgirl came to impress the judges... and impress she did!
Jeneve is a fifteen-year-old who lives "off the grid" in the Elk Wilderness of Colorado with her family. During her audition, she explained that nearest town is over six miles away, and her driveway is a mile itself.
The family lives without power, aside from a generator they turn on twice a week to watch "American Idol" when it is in season. Now that is really "off the grid."
Needless to say, she isn't your average teenager, but that didn't stop her from following her dreams.
I am going to go in front of those judges and give it everything I got, and just let 'er rip!
And that she did! When the young cowgirl walked in, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. were immediately captivated by her presence. Although she may have traveled many hours to get there, she walked in like she owned the place!
With a cello by her side, Jeneve began performing a stunning version of The Band Perry's "Chainsaw."
Following her performance, the judges showered her in praises, applauding her "funky" version of the catchy tune.
Judge Harry Connick Jr. said, "You're a work in progress, but boy, there is a lot to work with."
Of course, Jeneve received a well-deserved "yes!" from all three judges! We can't wait to see what she has for us next!
