When Joey + Rory received the news that their song, "If I Needed You" had been nominated for a Grammy for Best Duo/Group Country Vocal Performance, no one was more surprised than the couple themselves.

The nomination was a bright light for the Feeks in the midst of great sadness. Following Joey's decision to end treatment for her cancer, she's had some good days and some bad. When the couple learned about their Grammy nomination, it gave Joey a new sense of hope, and she made it her goal to live to see the ceremony on February 15.

Whether they win the award or not, Rory says in an interview with ET that him and Joey are simply honored to be nominated along with artists such as Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, and Dierks Bentley:

"When you love country music as much as we do, to even be nominated for a Grammy for Best Duo/Group Country Vocal Performance is like winning the lottery...Those artists are stars--at least to us, they are. Joey and I feel like we're just regular folks--the kind that buys and listens to those artists' records. So to be nominated for an award like this with them is such an honor."

During the earlier part of his career, Rory worked as a songwriter, and even had the chance to write a few songs with Waylon Jennings. Rory says that while he was at Waylon's house, he noticed the Grammy award he had on display.

"I remember being in awe of him and the award, thinking that a Grammy was something that was too far out of our reach," he says.

Even though Joey + Rory never thought they would be nominated for a Grammy, they still liked to entertain the idea.

"I'm sure both Joey and I, through the years, have thought to ourselves, 'Wouldn't it be wonderful if…?' But honestly, we've not dwelled on it," Rory says. "We've always taken the approach to just do what we do in the most honest way we can, and believe that good things will come of it."

Joey + Rory definitely took an honest approach with their music video for "If I Needed You," which Rory says is less of a music video and more "a piece of our life set to music." The video features the couple's daughter, Indiana, and was shot after she was born on February 17, 2014.

You can watch the music video for Joey + Rory's Grammy-nominated song below.

We continue to send our prayers to Joey, Rory, and Indiana, and wish them the best of luck at the Grammy Awards.

LYRICS BELOW

If I needed you
Would you come to me
Would you come to me
For to ease my pain
If you needed me
I would come to you
I would swim the sea
For to ease your pain

Oh the night's forlorn
And the morning's born
And the morning shines
With the light of love
You will miss sunrise
If you close your eyes

And that would break my heart in two

If I needed you
Would you come to me
Would you come to me
For to ease my pain
If you needed me
I would come to you
I would swim the sea
For to ease your pain

Lay these with me now
Since I showed him how
To lay his hand there in mine
Who could ill agree
She's a sight to see
And a treasure for the poor to find

If I needed you
Would you come to me
Would you come to me
For to ease my pain
If you needed me
I would come to you
I would swim the sea
For to ease your pain
