He began the then-unknown song with the hilarious opening lyrics:
"Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way
I can't wait to look in the mirror
'Cause I get better looking each day."
With each lyric came more laughter and by the time Rogers joined Davis in the chorus, the crowd was going wild.
"Hard To Be Humble" was released in 1980 and was Davis' first country music Top 10 hit. The song was a light-hearted look at how popularity and fame could go to your head.
During the second chorus, the two singers had everyone singing along! The audience consistently erupted into laughter, but how can we blame them? With lyrics like, "Some folks say that I'm 'egotistical'/Well I don't even know what that means/I guess it has something to do with the/Way that I fill out my skintight blue jeans," laughter is inevitable.
