On Monday night (Feb. 1), Ted Cruz celebrated a major victory as the Republican winner at the Iowa Caucus. When Cruz went up on stage to celebrate, he played a popular, patriotic song that country fans know well, Aaron Tippin's "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly."

Co-written by Tippin, Kenny Beard, and Casey Beathard, "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly" was released in wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks. The song quickly soared through the charts and peaked at the second spot, while Alan Jackson's "Where Where You (When the World Stopped Turning)" held on to the top spot.

Sometimes candidates get themselves in trouble for playing certain songs at their political events, usually because they don't have the permission of the artist to play the song. So after Cruz played Tippin's song following his big victory, country fans wondered what the singer's response would be.

As it turns out, Tippin doesn't mind at all that Cruz decided to use his song, in fact, he feels honored.

"Man, I’m so proud that my song still resonates so loudly in America," Tippin says in a press release.

However, Tippin doesn't want his fans to think that he's endorsing Cruz or any other presidential candidate, he's just happy to hear his music being used to encourage people to get involved in the political process.

"I’m not endorsing anyone," Tippin says, "but I hope that my song will help get folks out there and do their patriotic duty … vote!

You can listen to "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly" in the video below.

We wonder if we'll hear Tippin's hit song played at any future events during this election season?

LYRICS BELOW

Well if you ask me where I come from
Here's what I tell everyone:
I was born by God's dear grace
In an extraordinary place
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly

It's a big ol' land with countless dreams
Happiness ain't out of reach
Hard work pays off the way it should
Yeah, I've seen enough to know that we've got it good
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly

There's a lady that stands in a harbor
For what we believe
And there's a bell that still echoes
The price that it cost to be free

I pledge allegiance to this flag
And if that bothers you, well that's too bad
But if you got pride and you're proud you do
Hey, we could use some more like me and you
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly

Yes, there's a lady that stands in a harbor
For what we believe
And there's a bell that still echoes
The price that it cost to be free

No, it ain't the only place on earth
But it's the only place that I prefer
To love my wife and raise my kids
Hey, the same way that my daddy did
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly

Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
