Willie Nelson became the first country singer to be awarded with the Gershwin Prize For Popular Song on November 18, 2015.

The award is named after the legendary George and Ira Gershwin, the brothers whose songwriting has gone down in history.

During his acceptance speech, Nelson announced that he would be paying tribute to the Gershwin brothers in a huge way.

"It is a great honor to be receiving the Gershwin Award," he said. "I have been a fan of Ira and George Gershwin’s music since I was a little guy and in appreciation for the award – and also I wanted to make some great music – I’ve just recorded a complete Gershwin album. It’s called ‘Summertime’."

The full title is Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin and it will be released February 26th. The album will feature hits including "I Got Rhythm", "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off", and "Someone To Watch Over Me".

Only a couple of the eleven tracks have been released. Nelson released "Summertime" on his Vevo page some time ago, and on Friday (Feb. 5), he released the video for "Someone To Watch Over Me".

"Someone To Watch Over Me" was composed by George and Ira Gershwin for the 1926 musical Oh, Kay!. The iconic song has now been recorded by over 80 artists and featured in countless movies and TV shows.

It is a jazz ballad and considered an American Standard, which means it is one of the most important and influential songs from the early 20th century.

Nelson's version is quite beautiful and although he puts his own spin to it, he keeps the original tone. At the musical break, Nelson switches the typical violin section for a jazzy harmonica and guitar solo.

Lyrics Below

There's a saying old says that love is blind
Still were often told, seek and ye shall find
So Im going to seek a certain lad Ive had in mind
Looking everywhere, haven't found him yet

Hes the big affair I cannot forget
Only man I ever think of with regret
Id like to add his initial to my monogram
Tell me, where is the shepherd for this lost lamb?

There's a somebody Im longing to see
I hope that he turns out to be
Someone wholl watch over me
Im a little lamb whos lost in the wood
I know I could always be good
Someone wholl watch over me

Although he may not be the man some
Girls think of as handsome
To my heart he carries the key
Wont you tell him please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me
