Lennon, 17, and Maisy, 13, have been making music since they could talk, but these two have found a knack for churning out original, captivating cover songs from other artists.

In 2012 they became television and music stars with the launch of ABC's hit drama, Nashville. Since that time the duo has partnered with various artists for live performances, made their own Opry debut, and released five singles to radio.

One of their most stunning cover performances is of an antique song that became a staple for artists like Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash

The song, "Hard Times Come Again No More", was penned in 1854 as "Foster's Melodies No. 28" by Stephen Foster - a man commonly known as "the father of American music."

The song was popular across America and Europe and mostly employed as a widely-used parlor song. The song asks more fortunate people to understand the difficulty that less-fortunate people face and ends in an illustrative thought: "a pale drooping maiden."

These two shining examples of natural musical talent and harmony really outperform their peers with this tune and show an appreciation of music that transcends their generation.

Watch the video below where Lennon & Maisy bring this well-aged song to life!

LYRICS BELOW

Let us pause in life's pleasures and count its many tears
While we all sup sorrow with the poor
There's a song that will linger forever in our ears;
Oh, hard times come again no more

'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary
Hard times, hard times come again no more
Many days you have lingered
Around my cabin door
Oh hard times come again no more

While we seek mirth and beauty and music light and gay
There are frail forms fainting at the door
Though their voices are silent, their pleading looks will say;
Oh, hard times come again no more

There's a pale sorrowed maiden who toils her life away
With a worn heart whose better days are o'er
Though her voice would be merry, 'tis sighing all the day
Oh, hard times come again no more

'Tis a sigh that is wafted across the troubled wave
'Tis a wail that is heard upon the shore
'Tis a dirge that is murmured around the lowly grave
Oh, hard times come again no more
