Kelly Clarkson Finally Reveals Huge Surprise Involving River Rose

Kelly Clarkson has finally revealed her huge surprise involving her sweet baby girl, River Rose!

Over the past few days, Clarkson has slowly been revealing her secret via various Instagram posts. The first clue was a picture of brightly-colored balloons, with the following clue showing a director’s chair with River Rose’s name stitched on it.

Then, on Super Bowl Sunday, Clarkson shared her own “commercial” of little River Rose getting all dolled up in front of the mirror. At that point, fans were extra anxious to know what the surprise was, but Clarkson had one more clue to share. On Monday, Clarkson shared an adorable photo of her sitting with River Rose in front of a tent and a bunch of balloons.

“#RiverRose and I will announce our #NewProject tomorrow. It involves balloons, magic, and a lullaby,” Clarkson wrote.

 

Staying true to her word, Clarkson finally shared her secret with her fans on Tuesday (Feb. 9)…she’s going to be a children’s book author!

Clarkson revealed the news in a video posted to her Facebook page, saying that the book will be called River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, and will feature illustrations by Laura Hughes.

The inspiration for the book came from Clarkson’s travels around the world with her little girl. Clarkson said that although River Rose got to travel to all sorts of exciting places with her, she was too young to remember what she saw.

So to help River Rose remember her adventures when she grows older, Clarkson started writing down the things they did together. From there, the idea evolved, and Clarkson found herself with enough material for the perfect children’s book:

“I started writing down these little fun stories of when we went to Australia and she got to hang out with some kangaroos. I thought I’d just write little cute stories for her and put little pictures with it…those little stories ended up turning into a book.”

Clarkson is excited for when her book hits the shelves in October, and hopes other children will enjoy reading the stories of River Rose.

“My hope is for little kids to read ‘River Rose and the Magical Lullaby’ and be inspired by it, and know they can achieve anything and still dream big,” she says.
