Ashley Monroe Reveals Her Opinion Of Blake Shelton And Gwen Stefani’s Romance

Nominated for two categories at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, Ashley Monroe took a minute of her red carpet time to speak about her nominations and her dear colleague, Blake Shelton.

Monroe has been friends with Shelton for years and is more closely associated with his former wife, Miranda Lambert. Monroe and Lambert comprise two-thirds of the country girl band, Pistol Annies. Although close friends with Lambert, she has had many professional brush ups with Shelton in the last ten years.

The 29-year-old singer/songwriter was most-recently featured on Shelton’s hit single, “Lonely Tonight” for which the two received a Grammy nod at this year’s festivities. The pair both expressed disinterest in winning their category – in favor of colleagues Joey + Rory winning for their stunning song, “If I Needed You”.

“I wholeheartedly agree [with Blake],” the singer told ET. “Not only is it beautiful to watch how their story has unfolded and see where they’re at right now, I would want nothing more than for them to win that. My fingers are crossed for them as well.”

Speaking of Blake Shelton, the reporter probed a bit deeper and asked some pointed questions regarding her colleague and best friend’s ex. It began with an inquiry about if Monroe knew if the country crooner would be attending the Grammys that evening.

“I don’t know if Blake’s going to be here tonight,” she admitted, continuing, “but if I see Gwen I’m gonna high-five her, because she’s awesome.”

With that said, the artist obviously is a big fan of the No Doubt frontwoman. She went on, talking about how she first met Shelton’s new girlfriend.

“I met her when I sang with Blake at The Voice a long time ago, and I’ll never forget, she said my voice was ‘dope!’ And I was like, ‘Yeah! That’s awesome.'”

But what about the pairing of these two Voice coaches? Monroe revealed that she hopes they will do well together.

“I think that any time you feel that in your heart, then you’re a good match, you know,” she admitted. “You can find someone just like you and it not work. Find someone opposite and it does, and I like that about love.”

We, too, are hoping that they find a lifetime of happiness with each other – and that might be what’s on the horizon!
