'Have You Forgotten?' singer Darryl Worley and his wife Kimberly are fine after being stranded in Fiji where Tropical Cyclone Winston hit on Saturday (February 20). Winston, the most powerful storm on record to ever hit the southern hemisphere, slammed the island nation of Fiji Saturday with heavy flooding, rain, and damaging winds.
Worley and his wife were in Fiji for Tunes in the Tropics, a week-long country music event. As Winston approached, Worley posted video updates to Twitter and shared that they had a plan to ride the storm out. Roughly nine hours after Darryl's last post, a note was posted to Twitter letting fans know that Worley hadn't been heard from and that they were in the Sigatoka area of Fiji where the weather was worsening.
Worley's fans were glued to his social media accounts as they waited for an update on the singer and his wife. Around 4:00 p.m. EST Saturday afternoon, a post went up on Worley's Facebook page saying that his mother-in-law had been contacted and that the couple was fine.
According to CNN, all flights in and out of Fiji have been cancelled and a state of emergency has been declared.
"As a nation, we are facing an ordeal of the most grievous kind,"Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama said. "We must stick together as a people and look after each other."
We are praying for Fiji and for the safe return of Darryl and Kimberly Worley. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
