Carrie Underwood is touching lives on her Storyteller Tour.
She is currently on a world tour and stopped in Hampton, Virginia on Saturday (Feb. 20). There, she met a young girl named Haley Hayes.
When Haley was six-months-old, she was diagnosed with Pompe disease, a rare genetic disorder that results in profound muscle weakness. Life expectancy is shortened due to weakness of the respiratory muscles.
According to WTVR News, doctor's told Haley's mom, Krystal, that Haley's life expectancy was around one year after she was diagnosed. She is now ten-years-old.
When Haley learned how to talk, she immediately began singing Carrie Underwood songs and soon after, Underwood became Haley's idol.
Local country singer and friend, Brittany Marie, knew of Haley's love for Underwood and wanted to help Haley's dream of meeting Underwood come true.
Brittany was able to obtain backstage meet and greet tickets for Underwood's Hampton show.
"The first moment Haley laid eyes on her teared me up and warmed my heart for so many reasons,” Krystal said. “Haley asked questions and [Underwood] casually answered like we've been friends forever.”
Underwood even told Haley she felt like they had met before! Haley told her they hadn't, but she did meet Sam Hunt at last year's ACM Awards. Underwood said she would tell Hunt "hi" for Haley. Hunt is joining Underwood on tour in the UK.
Haley, her mom, sister, and Brittany Marie went on the enjoy the concert, and were spotted by Underwood on stage because of their awesome signs! Krystal said Underwood gave them "the 'I love you' hand gesture'."
Krystal said all of this wouldn't be possible without Brittany Marie.
"These are the type of people your children need as role models and I'm so thankful Haley has that with Brittany Marie!" she wrote on Haley's Facebook fan page.
