One of the most talked about and touching performances to ever grace the American Idol stage came from Kelly Clarkson last week. The very first Idol champ delivered a stunning performance of her single 'Piece By Piece' that left everyone in the room in tears, even judge Keith Urban.
The emotion coming from Keith Urban during Clarkson's song garnered a great deal of attention, and Urban addressed the moment during an interview with ET following Thursday night's episode.
"[She's] just a phenomenal singer," Urban told ET. "She did a great job tonight."
Urban wasn't at all surprised by Clarkson's emotionally charged performance about being abandoned by her father as a child. He went on to say that the singer is "super real. It's just so refreshing to be around that. "
"The song, it's insane. I figure you're either crying at this performance or you need to check your pulse," Urban said. "It's an amazing song."
Clarkson, who is 8-months pregnant with her second child, got emotional herself while singing. The star attempted to blame her tears on being pregnant, but has a record of struggling through the song. "I actually wrote it pregnant with my little girl and now I'm pregnant with my little boy. So if I don't make it through and I start crying, just laugh. It'll make me feel better."
"I was starting to wonder if maybe I was [pregnant] too," Urban joked during his ET interview. "The humanity in that moment was just...you never see that on television so I was so grateful to be there to witness it."
We're sure that everyone who witnessed the moment agrees with Keith Urban. If you missed the performance from Kelly Clarkson that everyone is talking about, check out the video below.
