Outstanding a cappella group Home Free has been captivating fans since their 2013 debut on the NBC show "The Sing Off". Since winning their season, the country group has gone on to not only cover iconic hits, but to create some of their own original tunes!
The group members, not strangers to jokes and fun, drafted an original hit by the name of "Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget". The song captures the stressful life of a man whose wife has a terrible spending issue, ultimately running them into terrible debt. Seeing that the husband's name is on everything they own, he essentially becomes the individual liable for all the repercussions, despite the fact that his wife is the one with all the new toys!
The band hysterically sings,
"Now I'm headin' to the poorhouse/ Or headin' to jail/ And if I end up there I ain't makin' bail."
The song also elaborates on the extravagant clothing and brands that this man's wife has bought, in addition to describing the brand new Mercedes that his wife has taken upon herself to purchase. The song continues with,
"Cause I ran out of money/ Some time ago/ But if you look at my wife/ You'd never know."
The songs, full of hilarious and very true statements, is set to an exceptionally upbeat tune, making it impossible not to enjoy!
