It's a truly sad day in country music as the entire community mourns the loss of one of the nation's top country radio hosts.
Stars across the country sent out their condolences yesterday after hearing of the sudden death of Dave McKay of 99.5 QYK, a longtime part of the country music landscape.
As FOX 13 News reports, the police were notified when McKay didn't show up for his normal spot on the 'Dave and Veronica' morning show. That's when a co-worker who lives in his same building went to check on him and found his body.
At this time, police are actively investigating his death, but have stated that no signs point to foul play or suicide.
While word began to spread of this beloved part of the community and country music world, country stars who had built strong friendships with McKay began sending their condolences - and even Luke Bryan placing a very emotional phone call to the station while on air.
Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Hillary Scott, Dustin Lynch, Jennifer Nettles, Dierks Bentley, Justin Moore, and many others posted on Twitter expressing their deep heartbreak and devastation.
