The country crooner explains that his girlfriend's new coaching spot had both of them worrying about the future.
In an interview with CMT's Cody Alan and sitting next to Ryman Hospitality's CEO, famous country singer Blake Shelton opened up about what was in store for him after the release of his latest single and the announcement of his new bar project, Ole Red.
While both of them are noticeably excited about the opportunity to get to work together again on the stage of the show where they very first met - and fell in love, he confesses that they both were nervous about her return to the show.
Shelton has been an original member of The Voice, and has won the competition five out of 11 times, and Gwen Stefani has been more of a replacement, or "fill-in" coach; only appearing on seasons seven, nine, and now 12.
“We were both nervous about it. [We wondered], ‘How is this going to work?” Blake revealed during the interview. “But it brings a new level of competition to the show. Just when you think 12 seasons in it kind of is what it is, it’s not anymore. With her and I in this relationship, it’s so exciting! It truly is!”
It's understandably a pivotal moment of their careers and relationships together because this will be the first time they will be appearing for a full season as both coaches and a couple. There will surely be some figuring out to how it will work, but with the filming already underway and the immense buzz about the new season - we are certain it's going to be another fantastic run!
