Blake Shelton has a heart of gold! The Oklahoma native donated the proceeds from both of his home state concerts over the weekend to the Jimmy Everest Center, a pediatric cancer center in Oklahoma City.
During Saturday night's concert, Shelton was joined on stage by his cousin who is a cancer survivor.
“This time last year, we had a scare. And, we didn’t know what was going going to happen,” he said. “And, you can see that she’s here right now.”
Shelton credited the Jimmy Everest Center for his cousin's treatment and praised the center for the work they do for children.
“They don’t turn any kids away. You come in there, you got a problem, they don’t turn anybody away, so I thought ‘That’s a place that needs some money,'” he said.
Shelton then announced that the proceeds from both Oklahoma City concerts were being donated to the Jimmy Everest Center and he signed the $600,000 oversized check.
“Let’s all do the right thing,” he said. “This is our money, Oklahoma.”
