If you’ve ever wondered where Carrie Underwood gets her talent, it’s likely that the musical apple fell from her mother’s side of the family. A new photo posted by Underwood to her Instagram page shows her singing alongside her mother at a CMA Awards after party. The caption reads, “This pic is too good not to share…me and my mom doing an epic duet to ‘Does He Love You,’ after the CMA awards. Of all the amazing people I’ve been blessed enough to sing with, she’s my favorite!”

Carrie’s mom, Carole, has always been supportive of her music. The “Something in the Water” singer told Marie Claire in 2013 that her mom used to sew her outfits for talent shows. “She would get material from Walmart. It was a little Coal Miner’s Daughter up in there,” Underwood recalled.

Carrie also shared that while her parents are supportive, they don’t want anything to do with their daughter’s financial success.

“My parents are really great people who want nothing to do with any of this,” she said. “I’m the black sheep of the family. The black-crystal sheep. Swarovski.”

Carole Underwood appeared in her daughter’s 2009 music video for “Mama’s Song” and has accompanied her daughter to awards shows, but Carole’s recent performance with her daughter was a quite a treat for those fortunate enough to hear it.
