After much speculation on the matter, it's official. Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban will take the stage at the 2017 Grammy Awards for a countryfied duet.
The country stars were revealed as performers last Saturday via a commercial aired during the NFL playoffs, but it wasn't until a recent press release that it was confirmed whether or not the two would take the stage together.
Underwood and Urban spent the better half of December together touring Australia and New Zealand as part of Urban's Ripcord World Tour. The song to be performed has yet to be confirmed, however, a duet between the pair appears on Urban's latest album Ripcord, titled "The Fighter."
"She’s really, really talented, and she’s just really starting to discover what she can do as a singer, so I was really happy she wanted to sing on this song,” Urban said about Underwood according the The Boot. “It’s not a traditional duet, where there’s a lot for the girl to sing, but it’s an important role in the song.”
The country singers have both been nominated for awards at one of the biggest nights in music: Urban up for "Best Country Album," "Best Country Song" and "Best Country Solo Performance," while Underwood is up for "Best Country Solo Performance."
The 2017 Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles Feb.12 with host James Corden. You can hear their duet of "The Fighter" in the video below!
