Things are heating up on the current season of Dancing with the Stars, and not just on the dance floor. Julianne Hough, who was a former professional dancer on the show and now serves as a judge, has come under fire by one of the contestants over comments she made about her dance.
Last Monday (September 26), model, actress, and fashion designer Amber Rose danced a sultry salsa with her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, set to the song "Booty." The dance failed to impress the judges, and the pair ended up earning a score of 25. But Rose was more upset over what Hough had to say about it.
In the days that have passed since she danced, Rose has claimed that Hough "body shamed" her when offering her critique of her performance:
"It was a point in the dance where I had to lift my leg up and Maks dipped me & [Julianne] said, 'Oh, I'm uncomfortable,' and instantly I felt, I did feel body shamed...me, and my body, my hips, my a--, my breasts made her uncomfortable."
Hough later responded to Rose's accusation, saying that it wasn't her body that made her uncomfortable, but the dance as a whole.
"When someone is doing a hot, sexy dance like that without the right amount of energy that is required, it can be uncomfortable to watch," she said.
But Hough's statement didn't seem to be enough for Rose. Speaking to People, she said she wants to address her beef with Hough face-to-face.
"We'll talk privately, me and her, about that," Rose said. "I'm about empowering women...so we'll have that conversation when it's time."
