Darius Rucker & Sara Evans Team Up For Duet Of “Jackson”

Darius Rucker and Sara Evans took on the roles of Johnny Cash and June Carter for a surreal duet of “Jackson” that will transcend you back to the 1960s.

On this date back in 1968 After a performance of "Jackson," Johnny Cash proposes to tour partner June Carter on stage during a concert at the London Ice House in London, Ontario. She says yes.

Honoring The Duo

The performance took place at the 2015 ACM Presents: Superstar Duets! that brings new entertainment artists together to honor great musicians of the past. Rucker and Evans blew up the stage with their riveting performance of the iconic tune made famous by one of the most beloved couples in country music history.

Rucker and Evans kicked off their performance with an eloquent harmony, before both breaking off into Johnny and June-esque solos highly reminiscent of the original recording. Their high-energy performance had the crowd jumping with excitement as they sung along.

“Jackson”

“Jackson” was released by Cash and Carter in 1967, reaching No.2 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart. The song was later brought back to fame with the 2011 release of The Help based off in the city of Jackson, Mississippi, giving a whole new generation an appreciation of the song.
