Dolly Parton Reveals Who She Would Pick As Her ‘Voice’ Coach

Competition series have taken television by storm, especially The Voice. Country fans have had a strong connection to the show from the start, since Blake Shelton has been one of the coaches since day one.

Another country star with a connection to The Voice is Dolly Parton, who served as a key adviser during Season 10. Although Parton never had to compete on a show to make her way into the industry, she likes to wonder who she would pick as her coach if she was on The Voice now.

The coaches for Season 11 include Shelton, along with other longtime coach Adam Levine, and two new coaches, Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus. During an interview with Yahoo!, Parton revealed which of the four coaches she would choose if she was a contestant, but it wasn’t an easy choice.

Initially, Parton said that she would pick Cyrus as her coach, and she had a good reason too. That’s because Cyrus is actually Parton’s goddaughter!

She’s so talented and so great,” Parton said.

However, Parton knew that she was slightly biased, so she said she’d actually choose a judge that’s been on the show for a long time.

I would probably choose Blake,” she said. “I know him and he’s country. He’d get me.”

As for which country legend she thinks could win The Voice today if they competed, Parton said it would have to be George Jones, hands down. We think if Parton competed on The Voice with Shelton as her coach that she would be a force to reckon with as well!

You can watch Parton’s full interview in the video below. What do you think of what she had to say? Would you pick the same coach if you were a contestant on The Voice?
