The CMA Awards are celebrating their 50th birthday this year, and the hype leading up to "country music's biggest night" just keeps getting bigger and bigger. For months now, the CMA YouTube channel has been running a special series called 50/50, in which they have artists reflect back on their personal CMA moments. So far, the series has resulted in many touching moments, including when Keith Urban watched himself win his first CMA Award after 15 years.
In some of the series' recent installments, the focus has been on "record breakers" at the awards, such as Brooks & Dunn, who won the award for Vocal Duo of the Year 14 times. They also interviewed Miranda Lambert, who holds the record for the most consecutive and the most total CMA Female Vocalist of the Year award wins.
The CMAs started off by showing Lambert footage from her win at the CMA Awards this past year. She expressed how after all these years, winning awards at the CMAs is still like something out of a dream.
"It really doesn't feel real, ya know?" she said.
More footage played from Lambert's other award wins, including the time she accepted her Female Vocalist of the Year Award from one of the most legendary ladies in country music...Loretta Lynn. Upon accepting her award, Lambert wrapped her arm around Lynn and acknowledged her for "paving the way" for all female artists in country music.
You can tell that Lambert was overcome by emotion while watching herself receive the award from Lynn, and as she spoke about how special that moment was to her:
"It's moments like that, that are so validating and make you realize all the sacrifices, and heart, and energy, and time you've put in, people notice. And they still want you to be part of this family."
In conclusion, Lambert said that being a part of anything that has to do with country music is always a thrill to her. She said that since it defines who she is as a person, she doesn't ever see herself doing anything else.
If Lambert's CMA Award wins are any proof, it seems that the country music community can't see her doing anything else either! Check out the emotional moment in which Lambert reflects on her past award wins below.
Congratulations to Lambert on all of her success, she definitely earned it.
