You read that right! A cow that jumps like a horse!
It took two years, but 15-year old Regina Mayer was determined to train her cow to perform like a horse. The German teen wanted a horse, but her parents wouldn't cave, so she set out to find a suitable alternative.
Regina started out spending quality time with Luna the cow getting her accustomed to interacting with humans and riding equipment. Six months later, it was time to see how Luna would handle carrying a human on her back.
"She was really well behaved and walked normally," said Mayer, decked out in riding gear. "But after a couple of meters, she wanted me to get off! You could see that she got a bit peeved."
Mayer continued to work with the cow and developed an intense routine that included grooming, petting, and riding practice. It took more than two years, but eventually Luna was ready. Not only was she ready for a rider, but she was able to follow commands and jump obstacles as well as any show horse!
