Bo Bice, runner up to Carrie Underwood on Season 4 of American Idol, found himself in an unexpected situation when he claims a trip to a Popeye's located in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport turned racial. Bice took to Facebook to publicly shame the location, delving into his story by explaining that an employee by the name of Shawanda kicked off his visit by mocking his name amongst her fellow employees. He wrote in a since removed status,
"After laughing at and mocking my name (Bow-Bow, Boo-Boo, Bo-Bo) for 5 minutes straight with other employees, then when my order came up for a 2nd time (because she rang it up twice...), they call out "BO-BO", to which she referred to me in a condescending tone as "The White Boy" to her other fellow Popeye teammates. 'He already got his, that White Boy there' they all got a good laugh over it."
A clearly unhappy Bice went on to address his stance on the encounter, explaining that he felt if the races were reversed Bice would automatically be considered "insensitive and racist". The singer went on to call out the employees for their racism and spoke of his unsettling experience for what he called a mockery of a "courteous PAYING customer." He ended his post with, "If they think their employees at ATL Airport are doing a good job at customer service, THEY ARE CLUCKING CRAZY," as he added a photo of the allegedly rude employees.
Bice was unhappy when his public post had been removed by Facebook, posting yet another announcement to his defense after receiving hateful comments and falling a victim to what he said was "racist double standards". The singer has since vowed to involve an attorney in this matter, also admitting that a fellow Popeye's employee who witnessed the occurrence validated his story, in addition to the alleged rude employee Shawanda admitting to the heated encounter.
The father of four also sat down exclusively with Fox 5 to further address the incident. You can watch Bice's interview below.
